Apartments & Transparency

Milligan is excited that we are once again packing everything we own into only what we can carry.

Yesterday, the hosts we were house-sitting for returned from their own overseas trip.  So we packed up and headed for our new 1-bedroom downtown apartment that we had leased earlier last week.

Other than having no power, hot water, or internet, it’s actually not too bad.  It’s fully furnished and right in the heart of Auckland (meaning it’s a short walk to everything).

After a 15-minute negotiation, it appears the power company WILL make a special trip to connect power on a Sunday.  I had to play the “I-don’t-want-to-take-my-baby-to-a-hostel” chip.   They assumed I wouldn’t go there.  They were wrong.

The water and internet companies could care less about my babies.  Oh well, hoping for early this week.

I’ll be honest. We saved an insane amount of money and met some really cool people couchsurfing, house-sitting, and staying in hostels.  But I’m not exactly sad that we finally have our own place after 4 months of traveling.  Refreshing is the word.

I’m planning on leveraging our move as a fresh start in some other areas of my life, as well.  Most importantly, I’m going to be aggressively attacking my fitness levels over the next 3 months.  I’m tired of being 253 pounds.  Those of you that are willing to kick my ass and hold me accountable will soon have your chance (side project incoming).

Man Vs. Debt this week…

Our community has experienced some serious growth our the last 2-3 weeks.  I’m absolutely flattered at all the support you guys have given me.  Many of you have gone out of your way to comment, e-mail, and help spread the word.  I love you long time.

This week is going to be ‘Transparency Week’ here on the site.  We are going to slow things down just a hair in order to release two permanent features.  I’ve been wanted to ‘walk-the-walk’ by tracking our possessions, income, and expenses for longer than I can remember now.  Before we step back on the gas, I want to get this foundation in place.

For those of you that are seeking more information on exactly how we are traveling and what we are spending money on, this will be a cool week.  For those of you that don’t care about this…  too bad, so sad.

At some point in the week, I’ll be looking to recap the month of September and roll out my ‘Stuff I Love’ page (endorsed people, products, etc…).

Thanks for all the support over the last couple of weeks and I’m looking forward to your response to the new features this week!

XoXoXo
