I was recently having a discussion with a friend about how disgusted I’ve become with my remaining debt and towards the credit industry as a whole. It seems the more research I do on the industry, the more personal finance blogs I read, and the more educated I become, the more my disgust with debt grows.

Don’t get me wrong…  I don’t advocate a long-term lifestyle filled with anger and disgust.  However, used within reason these emotional can provide amazing leverage for change. In fact, building a community that can support each other in leveraging ideas, strategies, and emotions to survive the battle with debt is the entire purpose behind this blog.

The credit industry has done a marvelous job at making revolving debt an integral part of everyday American life.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could return the favor…  Wouldn’t it be nice to give your mostly intangible debts the beatdown they deserve?

Seeing this again, inspired me to try and recreate what I consider one of the funniest scenes of all-time by substituting the fax-machine/copier for something that would represent my remaining debt.  My only problem is that I couldn’t think of any suitable substitute…

A pile of credit cards…  A print out of our remaining student loans…  Our wedding pictures (we went into debt to pay for our wedding)…   As you can see nothing really works well!

For now, I will just have to watch the scene anytime I start to get lax in my journey to become debt free.  If I start to slip I hope some of you will remind me to watch Office Space for more motivation!

Do you have any ideas for debt-inspired, inannimate objects I could destroy?  Are you also this disgusted by your debt or are you taking a more sane approach to becoming debt-freeLet me know below…

I’ll throw out a couple of odd suggestions.

1) A yoke (debt is a yoke around your neck). I’m not exactly sure where you would buy a yoke, though.

2) Something painted a nice, bright red (red ink = bad)

or maybe something expensive that is now broken/worthless?

Other than that, I’m pretty much drawing a blank.
